Many people, maybe even MOST people, come to Amalfi for the day and then return to their own hotels away from the town but staying in a hotel in Amalfi really should be a serious consideration as you get to experience the town when the day trippers go back for the day and Amalfi becomes yours for the evening and early mornings.
