amalfi restaurants

One of the prettiest locations in the world also happens to have some of the best restaurants.Amalfi seems to be blessed with so many things and finding somewhere special to eat is a very easy dilemma.

Amalfi Restaurants

Amalfi is not just a visual feast of pastel buildings clinging to cliffs and shimmering turquoise waters—it’s also a culinary haven. Restaurants in Amalfi offer a rich tapestry of flavors that blend centuries-old traditions with the freshest local ingredients. From charming seaside trattorias to elegant fine dining establishments, the dining scene here is deeply rooted in the region’s culture and geography.

Dining in Amalfi isn’t just about the food—it’s an experience steeped in atmosphere. Imagine sitting on a terrace overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea as the sun dips below the horizon, a glass of local Falanghina wine in hand. Restaurants here cater to a variety of tastes and budgets, yet all seem to share a common goal: to celebrate the land, the sea, and the joy of Italian hospitality.

There may be a conception that Amalfi restaurants are all high end restaurants serving expensive foods and wines but many Amalfi restaurants are very reasonably priced and offer great quality food with fresh local ingredients.

Baglio Amalfi

The Baglio Amalfi is a very popular and much loved Amalfi restaurant and has regularly appeared in recommended lists from international journals and magazines yet it is able to remain unpretentious.

The restaurant is located about a 10 min drive from the heart of Amalfi town and the journey is most definitely worth it. Here, the culinary emphasis is on local flavours and dishes making the most of local ingredients. Expect, only the best seafood, local cheese and a selection of the finest meats complimented by a respectable wine list.

The interior is unfussy which makes for a refreshing change from some of the blingy restaurants on the Amalfi coast. This isn’t to say that the Baglio Amalfi doesn’t have impressive views-it even has a private dining terrace with stunning views over the Amalfi coastline, a perfect venue for the ultimate romantic dinner.

Trattoria Da Maria

Some say that in Trattoria Da Maria you can experience the best pizza in Amalfi and we cannot really argue with that claim.

Eating in this Amalfi restaurant feels more like you are eating in the house of an Italian family that you have become friends with. Expect a warm welcome from the staff and one thing that many diners here have commented on is how comfortable they were made to feel dining here.

The restaurant is a family business and was named after the founder’s wife, Maria, who encouraged Luigi to follow his dream.

Trattoria Da Maria is located right in the heart of Amalfi town, just a stone’s throw from the cathedral and yet doesn’t abuse it’s location by charging crazy prices.

If you’re looking for a modest gem of a restaurant in Amalfi then the Trattoria Da Maria may well be it.

Glicine

Any guide to restaurants in Amalfi would not be complete without including one of the Michelin starred jewels on the Amalfi culinary circuit.

A Michelin star doesn’t always guarantee a great dining experience, as Tripadvisor reviews will testify, but the Glicine has a stellar reputation and will not disappoint.

It is located only a few mins drive from the centre of Amalfi town and could easily be reached on foot too. It is sited within the beautiful Santa Caterina hotel, widely regarded as one of the best hotels in Amalfi and on the entire Amalfi coast.

The Glicine restaurant offers a diverse range of dishes influenced by the experience of the Michelin chef “Peppe” Stanzione, however, the emphasis and love is focused on food from the region of Campania.

Prices are predictably pricey but with Glicine you do not only get exquisitely created flavours and dishes but you also get a stunning views from the restaurant overlooking the Amalfi coastline.
