Amalfi Weather

Amalfi weather January

The weather in Amalfi in January is almost identical to the weather in Positano, as you might expect due to both towns being close to each other.

January is very much out of season, Many places are shut down at this time of year as there are very few tourists and only the most die hard travellers would visit Amalfi at this time of the year.

The weather in Amalfi at this time of the year is probably the coldest with daily maximum temperatures of around around 12°C/54°F and 8°C/46°F in the evening.

The sea temperatures will be around 15°C which will feel colder than it sounds and in January there is more chance of it raining than not.

Amalfi weather February

Amalfi weather in February is very similar to January. It may be ever so slightly warmer but don’t get your hopes up.

There is also a slightly less risk of rain.

Amalfi weather March

The average daily maximum temperature in Amalfi in this month can creep up to 15°C but evenings can still be cold, as can the sea.

There’s still a fair chance of some rain too.

Amalfi weather April

Temperatures in Amalfi slowly start to creep up with maximum highs of 19° C making April a very pleasant time to visit.

The sea is still too cold to swim in but daytime weather makes Amalfi in April a possible option especially as there are no crowds at this time of the year.

Amalfi weather May

It’s starting to warm up!

Temperatures in May in Amalfi can reach as high as 23° C and even a few degrees away from that is still very pleasant. The chance of rainfall begins to fall more and more and even the evenings become much more comfortable.

If you’re willing to brave it then swimming in the sea is possible though the water can still feel a bit chilly.

Amalfi weather June

Summer arrives and this is when Amalfi really comes into it’s splendour.

Daytime temperatures can reach upto 26° C and even the sea temperatures can reach 23° C so swimming in the sea now becomes enjoyable.

The crowds start to pick up and the town really begins to get a buzz about it.

Amalfi weather July

Almost peak summer and the weather is usually scorching. Pretty much wall to wall sunshine, no rain and temperatures reaching a maximum of 30° C. Swimming in the sea feels like swimming in a heated pool.

The hot temperatures and sunshine brings with it loads of tourists who tend to visit for the day and return back to their bases in the late afternoon.

Amalfi weather August

Amalfi in August is peak summer time.

The dazzling sun makes all the colours in town pop out and at times the heat can become draining. Thankfully the open air restaurants, cafes and bars are there to provide much needed refreshments.

Everywhere is busy but this is what Amalfi is all about. Everyone is in holiday mood and the town have a wonderfully lively atmosphere.

Amalfi weather September

More seasoned travellers consider September to be the best time of the year to visit the Amalfi coast. For most of September temperatures are still high but have cooled a little from the intense heat of July and August.

The number of tourists begins to drop off especially from mid-September onwards and Amalfi feels like it’s beginning to breathe again after all the thousands of tourists.

Amalfi weather October

The early part of October in Amalfi can be a great time to visit as long as you accept that sunshine and general fine weather is not guaranteed.

Temperatures feel pleasant and warm during the day but evenings start to become cooler. The second half of October starts to see more rain and stormy days are not uncommon.

Amalfi weather November

Daytime temperatures are about 17° C but evening temperatures can drop to around 48° C so it’s starting to get pretty cold.

Restaurants, cafes and even hotels start to prepare for winter and many close down for the off season.

There’s a significantly increased risk of rain and Amalfi regresses to a town for the locals as very few tourists visit at this time of the year.

Amalfi weather December

Amalfi weather in December is really nothing to get excited about as temperatures continue to drop from November averages and a further increased risk of rain with an average probability of some rain reaching 30%!

Festive decorations transform a beautiful town into a magical place but without the weather it very much feels like a tourist town out of season.
