We strongly recommend to do your research BEFORE landing in Italy. It’s easy enough to do on the internet and it’s better to be fully prepared than trying to wing it once you’re at the airport.

Do NOT be tempted to go from Naples to Amalfi by catching one of the taxis waiting outside Naples airport. They will ALWAYS be one of the most expensive options.

There are many companies who employ drivers to do exactly this. As with Positano, there is no direct train from Naples to Amalfi. Your only two rail options are to get a train from Naples to Sorrento or from Naples to Salerno. We will focus on the Naples to Sorrento option as it’s easier than the Salerno route.

When you land at Naples airport you will need to make your way to Naples train station. Unfortunately, it isn’t really walking distance so you will need a taxi or a shuttle bus to get you there. The train station is called Napoli Centrale Garibaldi.

Then, you need to catch the the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento. Full details of how to catch this train are available on our How To Get From Naples To Sorrento page.
