Let’s dispel one myth right off the bat.

There are no “flights to Sorrento” because Sorrento does not have an airport!

This doesn’t stop over a thousand people every single month search for the term “flights to sorrento” on Google 🙂

The closest airport to Sorrento is Naples and this will be the airport that everyone flies into whenever they are visiting Sorrento or the Amalfi coast.

The only exception to this might be US tourists who may have flights to Rome or Milan and then decide to take the train down south.

So please, take it from us. Do not waste your time looking for flights to Sorrento as you won’t find any 🙂

Flights to Naples from the UK

If you’re looking for flights to Naples from the UK then you’re spoilt for choice as the UK is well serviced with direct flights to Naples international airport.

Average flights times from most UK airports to Naples is around 2 hours and 45 minutes. 

London Heathrow provides regular flights courtesy of ITA (Italy’s national airline) and British Airways. Other London airports provide direct flights to Naples from a variety of low cost carriers such as Easyjet, Ryanair, Wizzair.

Outside of the capital, Manchester, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Birmingham are just some of the airports which fly direct to Naples.

The variety of flights to Naples differs according to the time of year.

During off-season, especially in the winter, there are less flights to Naples but as we move into Spring then the number of flights from the above mentioned airlines increases gradually.

Some travel agents offer some good deals on Sorrento holidays which include flights to Naples and a hotel in Sorrento. It might even include a transfer from Naples airport to Sorrento so it’s always worth checking to see if there are any decent deals for Sorrento holiday packages or whether it is cheaper to book the flights and hotels yourselves.

Flights to Naples from the US

Although not as plentiful, or as cheap, as flights from the UK to Naples, there are a number of regular, direct flights from the US to Naples.

JFK, Chicago, Newark, Atlanta and Philadelphia all offer direct, non-stop flights to Naples Italy. Flights are not as frequent as from the UK but they do increase in regularity when the tourist season picks up in the springtime.

Flight times from these US cities range from approximately 8h 45m upto 9h 45m.

Other US airports will fly to one of the European airport hubs e.g. London, Paris etc from where you then catch a connecting flight to Naples although some people prefer to have their connecting flight US-side e.g. fly to one of the US cities which then has direct flights to Naples.
