Sorrento weather January

Most people are not going to visit Sorrento in January but………if you do and you want to know what the weather in January is like in Sorrento then expect it to be one of the coldest months.

Average temperatures are usually between 10°C and 15°C/ 50°F and 59°F. These are average temperatures and don’t be surprised if in some years the temperature in Sorrento drops to 5°C (though seldom lower).

Weather in Sorrento in January is often unpredictable but be prepared for rain, winds and plenty of cloud days.

January is very much off season so many places may be closed.

Sorrento weather February

If we’re being totally honest with you, February is probably the worst time of the year to visit Sorrento if the weather is an important part of your experience.

It is much the same as January. Many places will be closed as people in the hospitality sector will go on holiday themselves at this time of the year to prepare for the upcoming tourist season.

The waters can also be rough which impacts upon ferry schedules to Capri, Ischia, Amalfi and Naples.

Sorrento weather March

Sorrento weather in March is showing signs of waking from the winter slumber.

Temperatures start creeping up with and it’s not unusual for temperatures to reach around 19°C/ 66°F.

In the sun it can feel like a beautiful warm Spring day but evenings can still be chilly. Hotels and restaurants start to re-open as they welcome the first tourists of the season.

It can be a good time to visit if you want to avoid the crowds although be aware that the weather could still be a little fickle.

Sorrento weather April

It’s beginning to feel a lot like……summer.

April weather in Sorrento is usually very pleasant. Temperatures are starting to hit 20°C/ 68°F. There are more sunny days and less rainy ones. The ferry schedule is starting to pick up providing more travel options for you and although the sea water can still be cold at this time of the year ihaving a “beach day” on a sunny day is still a very possible option for you.

As it’s not high season Sorrento and all other surrounding towns are still pretty quiet.

Sorrento weather May

Regular visitors to Sorrento believe that May is one of the best times to visit.

Temperatures are really starting to rise and average a not unpleasant 25°C/ 77°F. Evenings can still get a bit chilly and the sea water might also be on the cold side but other than that it’s a great time of the year to visit.

Sorrento weather June

June weather in Sorrento is usually hot days and warm nights which is pretty much what you would want from a holiday destination.

In June the temperatures are a little bit lower than the intense heat of July and August (average high is about 29°C/ 84°F)

The tourist season is really starting to grind into top gear now so with the great weather comes great numbers of tourists. 

Sorrento weather July

Sorrento weather in July is hot, hot, hot!

Average temperatures are in the 30’s and it’s not unusual for the temperature to get a lot higher.

July and August are peak season so expect plenty of tourists and crowds but in return you get to enjoy hot, cloudless days and balmy evenings in this beautiful part of the world.

Sorrento weather August

Sorrento in August is peak summer, peak tourist season and peak headache (if you don’t like the heat or crowds).

August is popular in Sorrento for a reason though. You are pretty much guaranteed glorious weather and as long as you prepare for the sun and the temperatures i.e. plenty of liquids, lighweight clothes (preferably linen) then you will get to see this beautiful town at it’s best.

Sorrento weather September

Sorrento weather in September is still hot but more bearable than the oppressive temperatures in July and August.

Days are still very sunny, temperatures are still high and evenings become more pleasant to stroll around in.

Temperatures are still around 30°C/ 86°F especially in the first part of the month

The crowds also start to thin out as people go back to work and kids back to school.

Sorrento weather October

Temperatures in October gradually start to decline. There are still plenty of sunny days but there’s an increasing risk of cloud and rain.

Evenings become cooler and it may be necessary to wear a second layer.

It becomes much more pleasant to visit sights as the crowds have reduced drastically.ds back to school.

Sorrento weather November

Sorrento weather in November is marked by much more cloudy days and rain. Temperatures can still reach 20°C but your travel plans will revolve more abd more on what the weather is doing.

The tourist season in Sorrento technically finishes on the 1st November so some hotels and restaurants will start preparing to close.

Sorrento weather December

If we’re all being honest, you do not come to Sorrento in December for the weather!

As the month progresses, daytime temperatures average around 11°C/ 52°F whilst evenings can often dip to a decidedly cold 6°C/43°FC.

But….December in Christmas can still be a great time to see all the Christmas decorations in and around Piazza Tasso and all the other neighbouring towns and islands.
